It is the legendary 1500 page textbook of second-year medical students. You don't know why you spent the money on it as the raw size shouted impossibility and demanded enslavement. Idealism caught you off-guard. The masterpiece of all that is grossly or microscopically wrong with the human body read like frozen molasses which thawed gradually through the third successive completion. By the sixth reading it was the sweet nectar of knowledge. And completely worth the tireless devotion.
